Opuntia "old mexico" is a prickly pear from just south of the Texas/Mexico boarder, with beautiful wavy "pads". It grows into a large man-high cactus but can also be kept in pots. I have seen it growing here in Arizona through cold and heat. It survived the 2011 cold front where temperatures got down to 5 degrees, so I would expect it is fully hardy from 10 to 130 degrees.
